Tasting Notes: Orange Peel, Crème Brûlée, Ginger, Butterscotch
Distilled from the pomace of Nebbiolo, this Grappa is aged for 12 years in oak barrels before bottling. At 100 proof, it’s got more heat than you might expect from a classic digestif, but as such it is brilliantly suited to the deeply faceted flavor profile and thus rewards careful attention. The opening note is fruity, with a whiff of citrus peel and banana, which leads into a smooth and sweet harmony of crème brûlée, butterscotch, and caramel. Long finishing, it is marked by the fire of candied ginger and a hint of baking spice. A wonderful finish to a special meal, savor and enjoy with dessert, a cheese plate, or quite simply on its own.
