Founded by Adriano Ramos Pinto in 1880. Over the years, Casa Ramos Pinto meticulously studied this Duoro Region and eventually became the owners of a number of estates with very special characteristics.
Bom Retiro is Ramos Pinto’s historic home on the south bank of the Douro. This single estate provided the fruit for this wine where a quarter of the vines are more than 80 years old. This is a flagship wine with Ramos Pinto's best grapes and it isn't to be sold short. It's a noticeable step up from producers that are famous for their vintage ports.
The Ramos Pinto, Quinta do Bom Retiro 20-year Tawny Port is rich, soft and seamless, with a a wonderful spicy character boasting waves of dates, dried figs, brazil nuts, toasted almonds. figs, oranges, caramel, toffee, cinnamon and fruitcake notes. There is great length and subtle sweetness on the finish. Goes well with toasted brie or chocolate.
