Brothers George and David Sandeman founded the company in 1790. Sandeman remained a family business until bought out by the drinks company Seagram in 1979 and now owned by Sogrape. The growth of Sandeman Port over two centuries has been based on a balance of tradition and innovation, respecting heritage but always seeking improvement.
Sandeman’s long-standing reputation for aged tawny Port is confirmed by this wine. It has soft tannins and a good edge of wood acidity and spirit. A rich yet elegant combination of flavours - dried apricots, honey, nuts, spices, vanilla, butterscotch, toasted coconut and hazelnut - creates an endlessly complex wine that unfolds smoothly and develops in the mouth. The luscious finish is loaded with spice and cocoa details. Sandeman Porto Tawny 20 Years Old is ready for drinking and does not require decanting. Try with mature, salty cheeses like gruyère or with desserts such as a crème brûlée or a tarte tatin.
