Brothers George and David Sandeman founded the company in 1790. Sandeman remained a family business until bought out by the drinks company Seagram in 1979 and now owned by Sogrape. The growth of Sandeman Port over two centuries has been based on a balance of tradition and innovation, respecting heritage but always seeking improvement.
This is a relatively youthful-seeming 30-year-old that's a blend of 25 to 40 year old wines, However; it is a beautifully concentrated, fresh, rich, complex, and dense wine. The elegant acidity, lifts the palate which delivers flavors of dried apricot, fig, butterscotch, dark chocolate, vanilla, hazelnut, walnut, citrus zest, and caramel-laced fruit. Crème Brûlée anyone?
