Tasting Notes: Cask Strength, Black Cherry, Dark Chocolate

Aberlour is a distillery of single malt Scotch Whiskey, located on Aberlour town, Speyside, Scotland at the crossing of rivers Lour and Spey near Ben Rinnes. The Speyside region is the most prolific Whiskey producing region in Scotland, accounting for over half of all of Scotland's distilleries. Speyside whiskies are recognized for their "heather-honeyish" character, which is a product of the unique malting processes, local climate, and water sources. A'bunadh, Gaelic for 'of the origin', is matured exclusively in Oloroso ex-sherry butts. It is a natural cask-strength malt Whiskey produced without the use of modern-day chill filtering methods or the addition of water. On the nose, A'bunadh gives aromas of mixed spices, praline and spiced orange harmonising with rich, deep notes of Oloroso sherry. On the palette, orange, black cherries, dried fruit and ginger spiked with dark bitter chocolate and enriched with sherry and oak. Full bodied and creamy. Robust and intense with bitter-sweet notes of exotic spices, this Aberlour has a dark chocolate and oak finish.
