Saxum Vineyards focuses on producing Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvedre based blends from the Templeton Gap/Willow Creek area of Paso Robles. They farm everything sustainably without chemical fertilizers, herbicides, or pesticides. The James Berry Vineyard is the Smith family’s estate vineyard, located 10 miles from the Pacific Ocean with an average elevation of 1200 feet.
The 2012 blend is 43% Grenache, 29% Mourvèdre, 18% Syrah, 10% Counoise, and it is just delicious! Full bodied and rich, yet lively and pure, the wine has flavors of spring dark cherries and red fruits with a core of spice and fine tannins emerging on the finish.
