Grape: Pinot Noir
Tasting Notes: Cherry, Plum, Floral, Spice
The three owners (Webster Marquez, Anthony Filiberti and David Low) crossed paths while working at Williams-Selyem in 2003. They started Anthill Farms in 2004. The partners themselves farm many of the small plots where they source their grapes. The Tina Marie Vineyard is unique in that it covers three overlapping appellations: Russian River Valley, Sonoma Coast and Green Valley. Its tightly spaced vines ensure greater concentration of the grapes and thus more intense flavor.
The 2016 Anthill Tina Marie Pinot has medium tannins, acid, alcohol and body and is quite complex. Definitely more Burgundian in style than a New World fruit bomb but it presents classic Pinot flavors of raspberry, red cherry, and strawberry with pretty floral and savory notes. The long finish brings some spicy notes. An excellent match for herb encrusted pork chops.
