Avignonesi is one of the oldest wineries in Italy and is named after the Avignonesi family. In 2009, Avignonesi was acquired by Virginie Saverys who has since introduced organic and biodynamic farming methods to craft distinct, genuine wines with an even stronger character, and has acquired additional vineyards and a state-of-the-art winemaking facility in the Montepulciano appellation.

This Sangiovese is from 10-35 year old vines in the Le Capezzine and I Poggetti Vineyards. The grapes were macerated on their skins for 20-25 days in stainless steel tanks and aged for 18 months in Slavonian oak barrels (50%) and neutral French barriques (50%).This has been a favorite since visiting the estate a few years back.
