Grape: Mataro (aka Mouvedre), Grenache
Tasting Notes: Watermelon, Strawberry, Lime, Minerals
Bedrock Wine Co. was founded in 2007 by Morgan Twain-Peterson in a 550 square-foot, former chicken coop with 8 foot ceilings and no fermentation space. After six years of Bedrock being a one-man-show, Morgan was able to talk his best friend, Chris Cottrell, into moving to California from New York to join him. They now happily have a little more space to move around in but share the same objectives that guided the winery at the start.
This wine is Bedrock's love letter to the Bandol rosé and made as a homage to Lucie 'Lulu” Peyraud of Domaine Tempier, the legendary Bandol producer. However; don't let the light color fool you. It is medium bodied with medium plus acidity, good structure, complexity, and depth. The grapes were harvested specifically for roséat relatively low sugars to maintain freshness.
There's a multitude of French Rosé like flavors such as watermelon, strawberry. raspberry, minerals, stone, and a bit of lime and grapefruit. Great sipper for the jacuzzi, by the pool or as a match with paella or Mexican food.
