Marques de Murrieta is named after Luciano de Murrieta, one of the founding fathers of modern Rioja winemaking, who established the estate in 1852. Fruit for Marqués de Murrieta’s Reserva is hand-harvested from the Ygay Estate which was also the vineyard producing the 2020 Wine Spectator #1 Wine of the Year.

It is a red reserva wine with a balanced aging of two years in new and partly new American oak barrels and a year and a half in bottle. The result is an elegant wine that combines complexity and fineness, as well as natural power. It's full and layered and well structured with smooth tannins and acid. Black olive, cherry, raspberry, oak, fig, vanilla, leather, and forest floor notes frame tangy black cherry and currant flavors. The finish is long and smooth. Enjoy with baked red snapper with grilled vegetables or lamb chops with buttermilk, asparagus and red wine.
