The Bollinger Champagne House has created prestigious champagnes with character, distinguished by their elegance and complexity, since 1829. Six generations of the Bollinger family have maintained their trademark style, and Bollinger is one of the rare Grande Marque houses to be owned, controlled and managed by the same family since it was founded. The Bollinger vineyards cover 399 acres, most of which are classified Grand or Premier cru.
At Bollinger, only very high quality harvests become a vintage: in 2012, the remarkable maturity of the grapes combined with a phenomenal acidity have produced a wine of infinite depth and allowed an exceptional vintage to be created. Wine Spectator designated the 2012 La Grand Annee as the #10 wine of 2020.
the 2012 Grand Année is full-bodied, deep, harmonious, and muscular, with an intense spine of acidity and a creamy effervescence. Finely knit flavors of citrus peel, orchard fruit, brioche, black currant, black cherrycoffee, and toasted almond saturate the palate. Bone-dry finish. Approachable now but will improve over the next 10 years. Pair with cured ham, seared scallops or grilled lobster.
