The origins of Bolgheri Castle date back to 1200. In the second half of the 1700s, restoration work and improvements were made to the building, and the cellars were built.

The 2020 Castello di Bolgheri, Varvara  exhibits extra softness and richness that reflects the warm and dry conditions of this vintage. It has full body, with medium acidity. On the savory and slightly fruity palate, velvety tannins support blackberry jam, plum, black currant, black cherry, tobacco, star anise, clove, and nutmeg flavors with just hints of black licorice. and oak.  Red meats or pasta with red sauce would match well.
