Tasting Notes: Blackberry, Violet, Raspberry, Oak
Bodega Catena Zapata is one of Argentina's high altitude Malbec pioneers. The Catena family began making wine in Mendoza in 1902. Over the past 20 years, Nicolás Catena and his daughter Laura and their vineyard management team have worked tirelessly in the discovery, identification and development of key microclimates in the high altitude wine country of Mendoza. The Nicasia vineyard is the only planting of the special Catena Selection of Malbec cuttings.
From one of the Catena's highest family vineyards, this wine combines ripeness with elegance; it's powerful, full bodied, with smooth texture, brisk acidity and refined tannins. The complex palate oozes flavors of blueberries, blackberry, cassis, vanilla, spices, red fruit, violest. leather and dark chocolate. Mineral, slate and white pepper notes linger on the lithe, focused finish. Pairs well with roasted veal, shiitake mushrooms, and beef tenderloin.
