Grape: Cabernet Sauvignon
Tasting Notes: Blackberry, Plum, Oak, Vanilla
In 1972, Chuck Wagner started Caymus Vineyards. Today, Caymus Cabernet is one of Napa Valley’s most celebrated wines. Caymus always produces a big, rich, and flamboyant Cabernet Sauvignon. This consistency in stylistic achievement year after year is what makes Caymus a household name
The 2017 vintage is as stellar as any of the winery's efforts to date. This wine is smooth, polished, and well-appointed. As always, it's a very opulent, lush, full-bodied red delivering seamless structure and mouth filling fruit. The palate is slightly juicy and slightly rich, almost sweet exhibiting flavors of plum, cassis, blackberry preserve, fig, vanilla, leather, prune and oak are gliding through, and hefty dollops of mocha and ganache appear on the finish. Pair it with a thick, well-marbled grilled ribeye.
