Grape: Chardonnay
Tasting Notes: Lemon, Almond, Spice, Tangerine
The Martin Ray vineyard dates back to 1943 and was replanted in the early 1980's. It sits at 1800 feet up the Santa Cruz Mountains where the fog, ocean breezes, and cool sunlight sculpt the terrior. Rocky schist soils high in iron result in a savory masculine wine Chardonnay reminiscent of the greatest Burgundies. Wines are produced sustainably and biodynamically, creating site-specific expressions of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
The 2017 Chardonnay Peter Martin Ray Vineyard is all precision and class. It is wonderfully nuanced from start to finish. Rich, textured, and very balanced with racey acidity. The plush palate brings flavors of orchard fruits, citrus, dried flowers, almonds, tangerine, and honey. with a hint of toast and oak. Perfect for imbibing with chicken or seafood!
