Grape: Pinot Noir
Tasting Notes: Red Cherry, Pomegranate, Sage, Earth
In 2001, two generations of the Cobb family came together to explore a shared passion for pinot noir with the founding of Cobb Wines. Focused exclusively on crafting single-vineyard, Sonoma Coast pinot noirs, Cobb Wines combines the winegrowing expertise of David Cobb—one of the pioneers of pinot noir viticulture on the far Sonoma Coast—with the winemaking talents of his son, noted pinot noir specialist Ross Cobb.
This 3-acre vineyard is located near Occidental on a south-facing slope. More fog and shade than other vineyards Cobb works with giving at a particularly delicate expression of Pinot Noir.
There aren't many winemakers in the New World who can make a Pinot like this. This is cool climate fruit done right. It features soft tannins, mild acidity, wonderful balance, medium body with solid structure and good depth. The palate is smooth with flavors of ripe wild raspberries, strawberries, various herbs, earth, mushroom, mineral, and spice. Pork roast would be a nice match for this beauty.
