Grape: Chardonnay
Tasting Notes: Citrus, Vanilla, Apricot, Marshmellow
Diora La Splendeur Du Soleil Chardonnay is an impressive creation from Delicato Family Wines. Named for the golden hills of the Santa Lucia Mountain Range that frames their family-owned San Bernabe Vineyard in Monterey, Diora is inspired from “d’Or,” the French phrase meaning “golden”.
Winemaker James Ewart has crafted a beautiful Chardonnay that's 80% from the only vineyard in the San Bernabe AVA in Monterey and the rest is from Santa Lucia Highlands. This wine was aged for ~fourteen months in predominantly French barrels creating nice weight on the palate. It has depth, viscocity, medium body, generous acidity, and balance. The smooth and moderately buttery palate gives flavors of orange, grapefruit, key lime, white peach, marshmallow, toasted oak, and hints of cinnamon, ripe apricot, Creme Brulé and pear. Will match nicely with grilled fish, lobster, sautéed scallops. or roasted chicken.
