Grape: Chenin Blanc
Tasting Notes: Mineral, Apple, Lanolin, Lemon
The Baumard property has been in the family since 1634. Domaine des Baumard produces some of the finest examples of Savennieres, and Jean Baumard and now his son, Florent, are universally regarded as the finest winemakers in the appellation.
The highly rated Baumard Savennieres is an elegant, perfectly balanced, lean bodied wine with bright acidity, loads of complexity and structure. The round and bright palate gives out flavors of lemon, ripe apples, lovely minerals, pear, lanolin, quince, light butter, and green almond flavors and a slight honeysuckle note. The Baumard Savennières is built for the long haul and will easily improve for a decade or more. Should go well with Blackened Salmon and Chicken Picatta.
