Grape: Cabernet Franc
Tasting Notes: Cranberry, Raspberry, Oak, Herbs
In 1962 Dr. Frank founded Vinifera Wine Cellars. The winery quickly earned a reputation for spectacular Rieslings and its original planting of vines formed the backbone of New York’s world-class wines and champagnes.
The fruit for the 2016 Dr. Konstantin Frank Cabernet Franc comes from two plots on their estate Keuka Lake property planted in the late 1980's. The wine is light-bodied with flavors of cranberry, raspberry, cracked pepper, dark cherry, a slight toastiness from oak all supported by green herbs and chocolate. Soft earthy fine grained tannins are balanced perfectly with vibrant acidity. The combination. Serve with brisket and red sauce pasta dishes.
