Tasting Notes: Cherry, Strawberry, Roses, Soil
We fell in love with this wine in the 2012 vintage and we keep coming back for it! This fresh and joyful Gamay comes from the high elevation Barsotti Vineyard in EL Dorado County. Their grapes are grown in a granite based soil that is a similar to the granite lime stony soil of Beaujolais.
Dry, light-bodied, high acidity and low tannins with a long, engaging finish and nice complexity. Pronounced flavors of strawberry, plum, red cherry, raspberry sorbet, slight earth, baking spice, mineral, and floral. One of the most enjoyable wines with a little chill, in summer or fall, with charcuterie, mild cheeses, or grilled foods.
