Tasting Notes: Stone Fruits, Honeysuckle, White Flowers,
The Cogno family has been making wine for four generations in Piedmont. In 1990, Elvio Cogno left a long and fruitful partnership with the venerable Barolo producer Marcarini at La Morra and bought a splendid farmhouse which was surrounded by vineyards. For the next 20 years he devoted himself to the winemaking traditions handed down to him by his father and grandfather. Elvio, in turn, has now passed the torch to his daughter, Nadia, and her husband, Valter Fissore, who has worked beside Elvio for 25 years. I had the pleasure of visiting this beautiful, modern facility last year. The view is incredible and so were the wines.
This delightful wine is frizzante and refreshing. Flavors of pear, honey, peach, pear, white flowers, rose petal, lychee, honeysuckle and apricot can be detected. The mouth is sweet and rich but the fresh acidity makes it very easy drinking. A perfect match for Asian cuisine and other spicy food.
