Grape: Montepulciano
Tasting Notes: Plum, Red Cherry, Tobacco, Earth
La Valentina Farm was born on the hills overlooking Spoltore in 1990. Today La Valentina adheres completely to the principles of sustainable development. The name Spelt refers to a type of wheat that once grew where the La Valentina winery is now located.
The Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Spelt is full-bodied, balanced with crunchy tannins and vibrant acidity. It is made with the first selection of Montepulciano grapes. It was blended and bottled without filtration. The palate is juicy with vibrant red-cherry flavor dominating. Flavors of leather, tobacco, spice, black cherry. violet, plum, and earth also roll over the palate. A hint of brown sugar melds tightly with a tannic note on the finish, giving the wine grip, body, and a lengthy conclusion. Pair this wine with lamb chops, grilled meats, and pasta with pesto sauce.
