Tasting Notes: Mineral, Apple, Lime,
Weingut Georg Breuer looks back on 130 years of history, beginning in 1880 when it was founded by the Hillebrand and Scholl families. Peter Breuer purchased the property in the early 20th century, passing it to his son Georg (1910-1982) several years later. In the 1980s Bernhard Breuer (Georg's) was one of the key members of Charta, an organization formed to promote a drier style of Rheingau wine. The vineyards are farmed using organic methods and are certified by Fair N Green.
This is a mélange from all but one of their estate vineyards. This is a pretty serious wine for the village-wine level with a lot of depth at the finish. Dry, crisp, lip smacking with a slate-like quality adds some real complexity. Racy lime, mineral, green and red apple flavors as well of traces of orange blossom and faint herb and fennel notes have a zingy feel across the palate. Think spicy thai or sushi.
