Grape: Pinot Noir
Tasting Notes: Cherry, Blackberry, Spice, Licorice
Founded by Sarah and Chris Pittenger in 2009, Gros Ventre Cellars is a small, family-owned winery operating out of Healdsburg, CA. Chris did a lot of the dirty work at Williams-Selyem from 2004-2006, then jumped to Marcassin to work with Helen Turley from 2007-2009, before breaking out on his own to start Gros Ventre. That’s quite the Pinot Noir résumé wouldn’t you say?
This wine is sourced from three prime vineyards situated within the West Sonoma Coast. It's medium to full body, with a beautifully pure texture, good acidity, polished tannins and a great finish. The exubereant palate presents flavors of cherry, plum, new leather, blackberries, blood orange, and spice with accents of graphite, licorice and dusty earth. Will pair well with duck in a cherry sauce.
