The Lion has been the emblem of the Hess Family for nine generations. It has come to symbolize the bold and persevering nature of founder Donald Hess. In 1978, he established The Hess Collection Winery on the site of one of the region’s oldest wineries on Mount Veeder whose ideal combination of high elevation, soils, and microclimates yielded elegant wines with rich, complex flavors
A beautiful balance of Mountain and Valley Floor Estates, Iron Corral Cabernet is complex yet accessible. It's well balanced, medium to full-bodied with terrific depth, well-integrated tannins and soft acid leading to a long, mellow finish. Red currant, spiced plum, cassis, black cherry, cinnamon, leather, and red licorice notes enlivened by a hint of bramble, coffee, and tobacco roll across the velvety palate. A natural with prime rib.
