Tasting Notes: Mineral, Stone fruits, Citrus, Apple
The legendary Karthäuserhof estate is the eighth oldest winegrowing estate in the world first mentioned in 1225. Officially founded as a monastery in 1335, this “Farm of the Carthusians” was given as a gift to the monks. The current owner, Albert Behler, represents the seventh generation of the Leonardy / Rautenstrauch / Tyrell / Behler family to run the winery since 1811.
The history and terrior of the Karthäuserhof estate shines through this clean, fresh, fullish and absolutely seamless bottling. It has bright acidity, medium minus tannins and is dry. Over the palate came stone fruits, melon, green apple, citrus, honey, slate, mint and savory herb as well as wet stone with a mineral note pushing toward the back palate. There's a very long, refined and racy finish.
