Grape: Pinot Noir
Tasting Notes: Red & Dark Berry fruit, Spice, Plum, Rose Petal
While waiting tables to put himself through school, Ken Wright was exposed to fine wines from regions around the world. Friends from the Willamette Valley piqued Ken’s interest in the region and a trip to the Dundee Hills in 1976 convinced him that this was where the finest Pinot noir in North America was being grown. In 1986, Ken started Panther Creek Cellars. In 1994 Ken Wright Cellars was founded. In 2003 Ken and his wife, Karen, bought the town’s train station that was built in 1923; this beautiful building now houses the tasting room for Ken Wright Cellars.
The Ken Wright Cellars Willamette Valley Pinot Noir is a representation of many of their single vineyard Pinot Noir sites in one bottle. It's beautifully balanced, complex, medium bodied with smoothly textured tannins and nice acidity. The supple palate features cherry, red plum, raspberry, and blackberry flavors nestled between notes of rose petal with subtle nuances of vanilla cream. Match with coq au vin, duck or with stuffed portobellas.
