Grape: Sauvignon Blanc
Tasting Notes: Stone Fruit, Citrus, Grass, Gooseberry
Established in 1996, Kim Crawford Wines sparked American interest in New Zealand labels with its fun-focused messaging, easy-drinking bottles, and accessibility in price, and availability online and in stores. Their first vintage was virtual. They produced 4,000 cases without owning a single grapevine or tank. In 2003, Kim Crawford Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc made Wine Spectator’s Top 100 List for the first time. And then again in 2005, 2006 and in 2008. In 2006, it was purchased by Constellation Brands.
The grapes were selected from vineyards that provide ideal growing conditions for Sauvignon Blanc. Individual blocks were targeted for their strengths and overall contribution to the blend. The vines ranged in age, up to 14 years, bringing a mix of youthful vigor and depth of flavor. The Kim Crawford Sauvinon Blanc is balanced, bright, tangy and crisp with racy acidity. It bubbles over with flavors of ripe, tropical fruits, stone fruits, passion fruit, melon, and grapefruit. Pairs brilliantly with fresh oysters, asparagus, lobster, or summer salads.
