Grain: Niigata Gohyaku Mangoku rice milled to 55%
Tasting Note: Cocoa, Cherry, Lemon, Butter
Founded in 1843, Kirinzan Shuzo lies beneath the majestic Mt. Kirin in the northern prefecture of Niigata. According to ancient Chinese legends, the kirin is a mythical animal that brings happiness and luck. It was one of the most sought-after Sakes on the wine lists of New York's Masa and Morimoto restaurants
The Kirin-zan is a full bodied, complex Junmai Ginjo with a buttery texture and surprising depth. It's made with the signature soft Niigata water. It has multiple layers of flavor: warm cocoa and citrus notes, buttery, bursting with pineapple, cherries, and lemon, smooth and creamy. There's an incredible long finish wrapping up with pleasant umami. Pair this with dishes like braised pork belly, stuffed mushrooms or a hearty stew.
