Grape: Sangiovese
Tasting Notes: Cherry, Black tea, Raspberry, Star Arnise
Four generations of the Sassetti family have made wine in Montalcino. The "Podere Pertimali" with its 16 hectares of vineyards is one of the most favorable terroirs for Sangiovese in the area. I had the pleasure of visitng Sassetti a number of years ago and met a few of the family members including Livio. Their Brunello has always been one of my favorites and is consistently excellent every vintage.
The Livio Sassetti Brunello di Montalcino Pertimali is full-bodied, complex, elegant and well balanced with caressing tannins. On the palate, silky textures usher in a ripe set of dried cherry, tart raspberry, black tea, tar, star anise, wild berries, orange peel, and a dollop of vanilla. The finish is long yet maintains the wine’s fresh and vibrant persona. It's ideal for a feast of pasta al Ragù di Cinghiale.
