Grape: Sauvignon Blanc
Tasting Notes: Peach, Pear, Citrus, Gooseberry
Erica and Kim Crawford founded Kim Crawford Wines back in 1996 as a "virtual winery" out of the back room of their Auckland home. Within seven years, Kim Crawford Wines was the country's tenth-largest winery in global sales. In 2003, the Crawfords sold the label. They went shopping after their sale, upping their vineyard holdings to about 215 hectares, which included 160 hectares of undeveloped hillside and adjoining land in Marlborough's Awatere Valley that is now home to the Loveblock brand. Their new brand is growing and now produces over 27,000 cases annually.
Dry, crisp, complex, and fruity, but not sweet. The palate bursts with white peach, tropical fruit, pear, Cape gooseberry, lemongrass, citrus, and green apple underscored by green tea and a ripe herbal backbone. Pair with spaghetti alle vongole or oysters.
If you were a fan of Kim Crawford Wine, you'll be equally satisfied by Kim Crawford's new endeavor - Loveblock
