Tasting Notes: Earth, Leather, Cherry, Smoke
The Finca Adalgisa estate has been run by 3 generations of the Furlotti family. Their tiny vineyard was planted in 1916 and produces only 500 cases per year. They only produce this 1 wine which is made by famed winemaker Carmello Patti who focuses on balance and terroir. Carmelo believes in only releasing a wine when it is ready which usually means 5 or more years in bottle. The 2012 is the current release.
This is not your typical fruity Malbec. The Finca Adalgisa Malbec is handpicked from a 2 acre organic vineyard at 3000 feet above sea-level. It has a very distinct nose, with unusual aromas (aromatic herbs, earth, mint, leather, fennel) that also make it to the palate. The tannins are mature soft and silky. It has been polished by its time in bottle and it's very approachable.
