Tasting Notes: Apricot, Melon, Citrus, Jasmine
The name Chapoutier occupies a storied place in the history of the Rhône Valley, beginning 1808, when the family first settled there. The centuries passed and the winery grew in size and prestige. In 1990, Michel Chapoutier took the reins. Under his leadership, the maverick winemaker established bold initiatives. For example, the introduction of Single Vineyard Selection that express the unique terroir of a site, or wine labels embossed in braille for the visually impaired. In each instance, Michel’s decisions were, and continue to be, driven by a deep respect for the soil, climate, and his fellow human beings.
Chapoutier's Marius is a dry, fresh, clean, persistent, moderately unctuous Viognier from South France with soft acidity and medium body. This classic Viognier provides melon, lemon, apricot, jasmine, honeysuckle, stone, flavors with notes of tropical fruit. It will go well with fried calamari or sautéed fish dishes.
