Grape: Nero d'Avola
Tasting Notes: Black Plum, Tart Cherry, Earth, Leather
Occhipinti is located in the Vittoria region of southeastern coast of Sicily. Owner, winemaker and viticulturist Arianna Occhipinti founded the estate in 2004, bottled her first commercial vintage in 2006 and today works exclusively with estate fruit. Arianna's star has risen very quickly over the last decade in the wine world, and she is rightly regarded as a symbol of success in the world of biodynamic farming and natural winemaking.
Siccagno’ is Occhipinti’s varietal Nero d’Avola, which she vinifies without new oak to preserve the freshness and fruit-forwardness in the wine. Juicy and palate-coating, structured, refined and at the same time full of vigour.
Notes of ripe plums, black currant, cherry, earth, blackberry, leather, and spices rumble across the palate. The wine is perfect for pairing with pizza or pasta with red sauce.
