The history of Orin Swift Cellars dates back to 1995 when on a lark, David Swift Phinney took a friend up on an offer and went to Florence, Italy to spend a semester “studying”. During that time, he was introduced to wine, how it was made, and got hooked. He founded Orin Swift Cellars in 1998; Orin is his father’s middle name and Swift is his mother’s maiden name.
The Orin Swift wines are not for the meek. The full bodied Abstract tips the scales at 15.7% ABV. That's pretty massive yet it's incredibly smooth with a basket full of flavors (black cherry, blackberry, plum, leather, black pepper, blueberry and rhubarb). The wine transitions effortlessly to a finish of black cherry, sweet licorice. Pair with a roasted leg of lamb or any hearty meat dish.
