Tasting Notes: Black Cherry, Anise, Leather, Forest Floor

This Barbaresco, from the Renato Fenocchio farm in the small region of Neive in Piedmont Italy, is surprisingly laid back for a varietal known primarily for boldness. Beguiling floral aromas open softly, but grippy tannins with notes of black cherry, anise, leather, and forest floor follow soon after. Great body and very well balanced, this is an excellent mid-entry point Barbaresco, and fans of this style of wine as well as the newly initiated should not miss it.
