Tasting Notes: Stone fruit, Apple, Mineral, Vanilla
Rivers-Marie is a boutique producer started a few years ago by by Thomas Rivers Brown, a Napa winemaker and winemaking consultant who has worked for such clients as Schrader and Turley. He and his partner Genevieve Marie Welsh work with vineyard owners to secure grapes. Their wines are normally produced in very small quantities.
From vines planted in 1990, this tour de force tastes like a Grand Cru white Burgundy. Deep, rich, powerful, viscous, and quite structured, yet chiseled and focused. Flavors of citrus oil, crushed rock, honeysuckle, nectarine, sea spray, vanilla, cloves, honey and baked apples are all detectable. The finish is long, textured, and creamy. Try with a hearty seafood dish.
