Robert Mondavi established his namesake winery in 1966 with a vision to create Napa Valley wines that would stand in the company of the world’s finest. He chose To Kalon Vineyard in the heart of the Napa Valley as the home for Robert Mondavi Winery. This first-growth vineyard, located in Oakville, California, is renowned for producing some of the finest Cabernet Sauvignon wines in the world.
This wine marks a comeback for the venerable Robert Mondavi Winery, with its first appearance in the Wine Spectator Top 100 since 2011. Relying on organic farming practices, with native yeast fermentations and no filtration at bottling, this is very much a new and promising Mondavi. It comes all from To Kalon. It's full-bodied, concentrated, beautifully textured with silky tannins, lovely depth and complexity. The velvety palate has an abundance of blackberry, black currant, cassis, tobacco, mocha, toasty oak, spice, chocolate, and dried herbs. Pairs well with grilled steak and mushrooms.
