Robert Mondavi established his namesake winery in 1966 with a vision to create Napa Valley wines that would stand in the company of the world's finest. His dream of crafting the best wines in the world has been realized and today the winery is recognized as a global leader in fine wine.
For the Robert Mondavi Winery's 50th anniversary the winery created the Maestro Red Blend to honor the man who was the guiding inspiration for so many years. 2014 was a fantastic season for Cabernet Sauvignon in the prized Wappo Hill and To Kalon vineyards, sources for this wine. Full body, high but soft tannins, medium acid, and very well balanced. Flavors of black cherry, blackberry, plum, tobacco, sweet spice, savory herb, graphite, baker’s chocolate, violet, cinnamon, cigar box, and cassis. Elegant and super long finish with black fruits and spice sustaining until the very end. This magnificent offering would pair well with a dry aged New York steak or Bistecca Fiorentina.
