Chateau de Saint Cosme is the leading estate of Gigondas and produces the appellation’s benchmark wines. Wine has been produced on the site of Saint Cosme since Roman times. They were one of the first in the region to work organically beginning in the 1970s and to biodynamics in 2010.
Saint Cosme is “unquestionably one of the reference point estates…in the entire southern Rhône Valley" says Jeb Dunnuck. It’s a gorgeous wine that lives up to its blue-chip pedigree and provenance. It's full bodied, plush, well balanced with good complexity and strong, smooth tannins. The palate exudes flavors of cherry, thyme, lavender, truffle, olives., blackberries, raspberries, peppery herbs, dry spices, and some solid earthy minerality. Serve it with a leg of lamb or grilled meats or a hearty stew.
