Brothers George and David Sandeman founded the company in 1790. Sandeman remained a family business until bought out by the drinks company Seagram in 1979 and now owned by Sogrape. The growth of Sandeman Port over two centuries has been based on a balance of tradition and innovation, respecting heritage but always seeking improvement.

This typical Duoro blend has enormous concentration, is well balanced, full bodied, and powerful. Even so, this 40 year old is as lively and bright as any of the younger ports in their lineup. The intensely flavored palate fills the mouth with dried fruits, dark raisin, fig, spices, molasses, spice, almonds, and walnuts. Perfect wine pairing when served slightly chilled with tiramisu, nut-based desserts, fresh figs, and intense cheeses.
