Tasting Notes: Black tea, Violets, Red Cherry. Oak
Sandlands is the personal project of Tegan and Olivia Passalacqua. Tegan is a Napa Valley native and director of winemaking at Turley Wine Cellars since 2013. The name Sandlands comes from the fact that Passalacqua's grapes mostly are grown in sandy regions and without irrigation -- a nod back to the roots of California winemaking.
From vines planted in 1915 in their Kirschenmann Vineyard. This vineyard has become one of the most prized vineyards in the Lodi region. This Zinfandel wine has great aromas and silky tannins with a nice push of natural acidity. The palate is lush but nor hot or heavy and it features flavors of black tea, violets, red cherry, spice, and black raspberry with subtle oak notes. Will play nicely with roasted red meats.
