Grape: 55% Grenache, 24% Mataro, 13% Syrah, 8% Counoise
Tasting Notes: Violet. Black Fruit, Mint, Pepper
The Bone Rock blend comes from the Bone Rock block of James Berry Vineyard. It has reached tremendous critical acclaim including being selected the #22 wine of Wine Spectator's Top 100 of 2019.
The 2016 is a richer, more blockbuster style. It's complex, layered, full bodied but not heavy. There are soaring aromatics of cherries and California sage. The mouthfeel is lush, round, and poliched with deeply concentrated, mineral-driven flavors of blackberry, violet, black raspberry, blueberry, bitter cherry, fruitcake, cassis, crushed stone, mint, and smoky pepper. The finish is forever! Because of its density, tannin, and acidity, it needs a few years to unfold.
