Grape: Riesling
Tasting Notes: Green Apple, Honey, Mineral, Grapefruit
Smith-Madrone is a family-run estate-bottled winery dedicated to producing fine wines exclusively from its own vineyards. The winery was founded in 1971 high atop Spring Mountain west of St. Helena in the northern Napa Valley. Two grizzled looking brothers, Charles (Charlie) & Stuart (Stu) Smith are the long-time owners and winemakers.
Smith-Madrone’s Riesling is a top-flight New World take on a classic grape. It's elegant, refreshing, impeccably balanced, light, complex and silky with quenching acidity. The lightly sweet palate offers flavors of tart green apple, apricot, grapefruit, and lime zest alongside touches of honey and wet stone and a hint of petrol all carrying you to an incredible finish. Pair with some sausages off the grill with fresh corn on the cob, grilled seafood, goat cheese, a garden-fresh summer salad or slightly spicy foods.
