Tasting Notes: Coffeey, Oak, Vanilla, Caramel, Oatmeal
Stranahan’s Colorado Whiskey is Colorado’s first legal distillery since prohibition, and the first batch was bottled only in 2006! It is distilled from a 100% malt barley sourced from the Colorado area, and water sourced from the Eldorado spring outside Boulder. It is distilled like scotch, but aged like bourbon in new charred oak barrels for up to 5 years.
A really cool characteristic of Stranahan’s is that each bottle has a note on the side from the person bottling it. It usually says what song they are listening to at that exact moment, what book they are reading, or their favorite quote.
The end product is really unique and delicious. You get hints of coffee, oak, and vanilla on the nose. Everything you smell is also right there in the flavor profile when you take a sip. The texture is very rich and full and there is a bit of spice and kick from the 94 proof.
