Tasting Notes: Cherry, Blackberry, Tobacco, Herbs
Tenuta San Giorgio was an idea of Guido Folonari, heir of a historic Italian wine family. The San Giorgio estate vineyards are essentially a continuation of the coveted Poggio di Sotto site. As such, the Sangiovese Grosso cultivated here benefits from the same climatic conditions, soils, and exposures as its world-renowned sibling.
This is a big, bold Brunello. Complex and elegant, intense and structured, the wine is ful-bodied with refreshing acidity and round tannins. Most prominent is the blackberry fruicacio e pepet. It's layered with flavors of earth, leather, tobacco. smoke, raspberry, ripe cherry, licorice, and dried herbs. Match with cacio e pepe or tagliatelle with truffles.
