Grape: Cabernet Franc
Tasting Notes: Strawberry, Plum, Eucalyptus, Cedar
Since his father’s retirement over two decades ago, Thierry Landry has cultivated the vines of the family estate, taking what was once a mere three hectares, and more than doubling it in size. Farmed organically, his vineyards are tightly planted and low yield, ensuring that the vines work hard and produce Cabernet Franc grapes of splendid quality. After manual harvest, the grapes are squeezed on a press dating back to the seventeenth century, and fermented using indigenous yeast. The outcome is an enthralling Chinon marked by character and intensity. A plethora of ripe red fruits are forward on the palate, blending with a nose of delicate rose petal and vibrant eucalyptus. Finely tuned acidity underscored by a velvety tannic substructure imbues this magnificent tableau with an infatuating complexity.
