Tasting Notes: Blackberry, Blueberry, Herbs, Earth
In the Spring of 1993 California publisher, Patrick O'Dell, purchased Johnson Turnbull Vineyards and renamed the property Turnbull Wine Cellars. Making high-end, impeccably crafted Napa Cabernet has been their mission since inception. So, after 38 years with a focused mission and an independent spirit it's not surprising that Turnbull is putting out some of the best Cabernet in Napa Valley. As a former club member, I can attest to the fact that the Reserve has been outstanding for decades.
The 2015 iteration of the Reserve Cabernet has received wide critical acclaim. It is a clean modern Napa Cabernet and has full-bodied richness, a concentrated, firm, structured style, good acidity and is well balanced. It is bursting with flavors of mocha, sage, plum, blackberry, black currant, scorched earth, graphite, licorice, and blueberry. It will make it a lovely pairing partner with grilled lamb chops.
