Grape: Pedro Ximenez
Tasting Notes: Raisin, Fig, Caramel, Molasses
The origins of this historic bodega date back to 1264 when Don Alfonso Valdespino, one of 24 Knights responsible for expelling the Moors from Jerez, was rewarded for his efforts by the king, granting him land in the city of Jerez. And thus began Bodegas Valdespino! It has a small lock on it because the best wines were always kept unfer lock and key.
One of the most famous Sherry producers and well deserving of it's excellent reputation. The wine is aged in an oxidative style for over 10 years, concentrating its color and flavor. It is rich, syrupy, complex, and full bodied, with good depth, medium acid, and a long, lingering finish. The viscous palate exudes flavors of raisin, caramel, walnuts, almonds, dates, chocolate, molasses, and fig. Perfect with Tiramisu or poured over vanilla ice cream or try it with blue cheeses, pecan pie or chocolate chip cookies.
