Vega Sicilia was set up in 1982 by the Álvarez family, its current owner, when it purchased the legendary winery of the Ribera del Duero. Presently, the Vega Sicilia group is composed of 5 companies one of which is Alion. Their wines are sold in a total of 149 countries and to around 4,500 private and professional clients worldwide. The group's wines receive a multitude of international awards annually.

Alion is Vega Sicilia’s other expression of Ribera del Dueo. Alión comes from carefully selected terroirs located in the very best areas of the Ribera del Duero. The wine is fresh, subtle, elegant, complex, intense, and balanced with creamy tannins. medium- to full-body and perfect harmony of acidity and tannins.  It's one of the finest vintages for Alión. The refined palate offers black fruit, vanilla, oak, leather, licorice, and dark chocolate with pretty violet, dried thyme and tobacco accents.
